Yesterday, I stumbled upon an article about Albert Murray, and I felt quite sad, because he was a very important person to the literary world, and I had not heard of him before I read that article. Not only was he raised in Mobile, Alabama, very close to my hometown, but he and I also share the same Alma Mater, Tuskegee University.
After I read the article about him, I instantly checked to see if his autobiography, Train Whistle Guitar, is digital, and it is not. So, I called Barnes and Nobel and ordered a copy. Needless to say, I feel an urgent need to read the writings of Albert Murray.
I've got to keep Albert Murray alive with his friends: Duke Ellington, Romare Bearden, Ralph Ellison!!!
Feeling some kind of way today! |
